The Bechtel Corporation is among the most respected and top ranked engineering, construction and project management companies in the world. As innovators in the industry they deliver the pinnacle projects that impact global business and grow economics worldwide. Bechtel has specifically identified Gilsulate International “as a key engineering and construction partner with Bechtel on projects in the US and abroad.”
Proven Performance
Bechtel has decades of experience using Gilsulate around the world from extreme conditions to the most highly critical infrastructure systems. Some examples of applications for Bechtel include: corrosion protection of radioactive waste treatment piping at DOE facilities around the USA, to insulation and protection of critical oil lines of global refineries to numerous LNG receiving and storage facilities around the globe.
Bechtel provides sustainable procurement and is committed to using the highest quality products. Their motto is “no rain check, no excuses, no delays.” As an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) organization failure is not an option. Bechtel’s decades of experience with the Gilsulate product has repeatedly demonstrated time and time again the unique and unmatched properties and performance capabilities that are unlike any other. Their engineers design and build their direct buried piping systems which require high insulating qualities and high level of corrosion protection to withstand harsh conditions and environments.
Gilsulate International Incorporated is proud to be a trusted partner of Bechtel.
World’s Largest Regasification Plant
Sabine Pass Liquefaction Project, Louisiana
“When Cheniere Energy Partners LP planned its original regasification plant on the Gulf of Mexico, the United States was one of world’s largest importers of natural gas. Booming gas output from the country’s shale formations subsequently turned that market around.
Bechtel built and expanded the Sabine Pass LNG receiving terminal between 2005 and 2009. Now we’re adding liquefaction capability so that the terminals’ storage tanks, shipping berths, and pipelines can do double duty and our customer can be among the first to market with export capability.”
The site conditions along this coastal project required the use of a product which could withstand various harsh conditions. They were seeking a product for their amine piping system which would provide high insulating qualities and a high level of corrosion protection. Bechtel’s extensive prior experience with the Gilsulate product made it an easy choice for their engineers.
Curtis Island LNG, Australia
Largest concentration of private-capital investment in Australian history
“More energy, cleaner fuel for Australia and its LNG export markets: in quick succession, Queensland Curtis LNG (a BG Group company), Australia Pacific LNG (a joint venture of ConocoPhillips and Sinopec), and Santos GLNG (a joint venture of Santos, Petronas, Total, and Kogas) each hired Bechtel to design and build a liquefied natural gas complex on Curtis Island, off the shore of Queensland, just north of the city of Gladstone.”
Gilsulate 500XR® was chosen for the direct buried piping systems based on its unique performance properties. Gilsulate 500XR® was shipped from our California plant to both ports in Southern California for cargo shipments and to Los Angeles International Airport where Bechtel had cargo planes set to transport shipping containers of Gilsulate500XR® for immediate on-site delivery.
